What is Kybella or a Double Chin Treatment?

Kybella is a nonsurgical injection technique. It is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin”. The injection is an alternative to liposuction or surgery to treat extra fat.

How Does Kybella Work?

The injection process uses a series of deoxycholic acid injections to target and absorb the fat cells under the chin. It works by destroying fat cells. Once injected, the acid begins to destroy the fat cells underneath the chin area, so it can’t store fat anymore.

Is Kybella right for me?

The ideal candidate for Kybella is adult 18 years of age or older that has suffered from moderate or severe fat under the chin.

How long does the Kybella treatment take?

Each Kybella treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The number of treatments sessions varies for each person, for some people multiple treatments could be needed to reach desired results. You can receive up to six Kybella injections, with no less than one month between each session.

Benefits and Side Effects of Kybella Injection?

  • Injections are done in the office, so no need for surgery or any incisions.
  • Treatments are quick and typically don’t need any downtime or recovery.
  • Kybella is natural to the body, it is made from the same chemical used by the liver to digest fat.

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Pain
  • Numbness
  • Redness
  • Areas of hardness

How long will results last?

Once the injection destroys those fat cells, the cells cannot store or accumulate fat anymore. Once you’ve reached your desired aesthetic, it is not expected that further treatment will be necessary.
