Non-surgical body contouring and sculpting is one of the most popular services today. While TruSculpt 3D and CoolSculpting are both noninvasive techniques used for removing unwanted fat, they are not the same thing. The difference between these two techniques is their approach to removing fat cells. These two techniques are performed in very different ways. At Agave Laser and Aesthetics Clinic in San Antonio, we offer both TruSculpt 3D and Coolsculpting for fat removal and body contouring.
CoolSculpting uses cold to freeze fat cells and destroy them to create body contour by targeting specific areas of fat. This technique uses a cold plate/panel that your skin is sucked into, similar to having a wart frozen off with liquid nitrogen. By using very cold temperatures it destroys the tissue by freezing it. Each session reduces are 12% of fat. CoolSculpt has a limited area of applications, in order to receive this treatment, you have to have a very specific area of fat that can fit in between treatment panels.
CoolSculpting only kills fat cells that are in between the 2 treatment panels. If you choose to use this treatment you have the possibility of the area that was treated looking lumpy. CoolSculpt typically has had more discomfort reported. If the fat is localized and is able to be drawn up into the CoolSculpt applicator then this treatment is a good option for you. Recommended areas that are right for CoolSculpting include tummy, butt, hips, and thighs.
TruSculpt 3D uses radio frequency energy to heat the fat cells which then causes damage and shrinking of the fat cells in order to sculpt and contour the body and areas of unwanted fat. The tissue is heated to 45-57 degrees Celsius. With TruSculpt 3D you can treat any area despite the amount of fat or the location, such as your arms, knees, and neck. TruSculpt 3D does not require the treated area to be isolated. Since the area doesn’t need to be isolated, the contours typically turn out more smooth and natural. TruSculpt 3D also tightens the skin that is covering the area being treated, this is a major difference between the two. Because TruSculpt 3D uses heat, the body naturally generates new collagen which is how the skin tightens. Improvement in cellulite is also seen sometimes since the skin is being tightened. When being compared to CoolSculpting in clinical trials, there is a major difference between the two. Because TruSculpt 3D uses heat, the body naturally generates new collagen which is how the skin tightens. Improvement in cellulite is also seen sometimes since the skin is being tightened. When being compared to CoolSculpting in clinical trials, TruSculpt 3D received the highest percentage of fat removal in just one treatment.
Though both TruSculpt 3D and CoolSculpting have various differences, they also have a few similarities. Some of the similarities both these treatments share include the cost being about the same, the amount of time to expect to see results and the overall procedure time.
TruSculpt 3D and CoolSculpting are both effective ways to reduce fat, but each one is best suited for different body types and different goals. Overall, the best way to decide which treatment is best for you and your needs is to speak with a professional. It is important that you make sure you completely understand the differences between the two and are honest with your doctor about what your expectations are.
